Located just outside the medieval walls of Bressanone, a.k.a. Brixen, the oldest town in South Tyrol in Italy, the new tourist information office by Italian architecture practice MoDus Architects welcomes visitors with sculptural panache. Named TreeHugger, on account of the impressive plane tree its wraps itself around, the building is imbued with a sense of lightness despite its brutalist sensibility, with its concrete mass levitating above the ground as it tiptoes around the massive tree trunk.
