Blique is a minimalist hotel located in Stockholm, Sweden, designed by Gert Wingårdh for Nobis. The property is situated between Stockholm’s gallery district of Vasastaden and up-and-coming Hagastaden. Keeping the base rough with minimal materials such as concrete and steel, Wingårdhs have created a series of spaces that blend Lewerentz’s precise architectural detailing with the Stockholm-based firm’s inimitable “high organic” style. A seamless arrangement of bespoke items alongside classic design pieces culminates in a rough and refined homage to Lewerentz that is unapologetically urban, yet simultaneously warm and welcoming. The end result is a unique series of areas in which Lewerentz’s footprint has been duly honored and the past and the present are equally embraced.
A perfect marriage of form and function, the 249 guestrooms have been meticulously planned by Wingårdhs to combine space efficient solutions with the beauty of artisanal craftsmanship. Spanning nine categories which are split across two of the hotel’s buildings, accommodation has been carefully designed to serve all types of stays. Ranging from 10 to 66 square meters, all rooms and studios feature supremely comfortable beds from Bed Factory and custom-designed, open storage units rendered from steel tubing. Ideally appointed for extended stays, the 58 Studio suites play host to fully-fitted kitchenettes, and the top-floor Studio Lewerentz and Studio Philips boast dining areas that overlook the city. Guests of all studio accommodations also have access to number of kitchen appliances as well as a selection of pre-prepared culinary packages for meals and gatherings, and the option to pre-order groceries.
