The CRAI is a three-story building that houses a new library and multipurpose room for the Liceo del Valle, with different areas for specialized and informal reading. Its program includes a teachers’ lounge, cubicles for group study and open spaces for exhibitions and group readings.

The intervention proposes to integrate a new building to the existing architecture through a courtyard that vestibules and supports the new multipurpose room (SUM). This is a flexible space where the modulation of the structural systems allows the space to be used independently.

The project is based on a choice of a construction system that allows to generate a strong image, where the materials used are proposed apparent, achieving a dialogue with the existing buildings.

Apparent concrete, steel ironwork in railings, doors, windows and stairs, and pine wood in ceilings, footprints and panels make up the palette of materials used in the building.

The building was conceptualized in the first stage as a guide for the development of the new master plan for the Liceo del Valle. It is from it that the new programmatic and spatial operation for the new requirements of the institution is gestated, indicating the new architectural image of the complex and pointing out the projection and objectives outlined.
