The project in question was the makeover of a house designed in the 1970s by architect Marcos de Vasconcellos, in Belo Horizonte’s Pampulha neighborhood.

Upon inheriting the house from her father in 2010, the new owner needed to make significant changes to meet her family’s needs – a couple with three children. The main requirement was the integration of the kitchen/dining room with the lounge, previously separated by the foyer. In addition to specific changes to the private quarters (bedrooms, bathrooms and den), the program also included the construction of two new home offices and a covered parking.

To meet the new request, it was necessary to swap the area of the whole service quarters with the social accesses. The kitchen was relocated to where the foyer used to be, thus communicating with the lounge and the dining room. The covered parking was created from the demolition of the former laundry room. The home offices were built adjacently to the house gardens, where the steam room and shed used to be.
现有的材料，砖和混凝土，被保留下来，也被用于新的扩展。
The existing materials, brick and concrete, were kept and also used in the new extensions.
