The projected Spa occupies an entire semi-buried floor of the recently opened Hotel Botanique. The project started with a challenge: to use an existing structure with small and fragmented spaces, deficient lighting and low ceiling height in some parts, characteristics that initially were not exactly suitable for the occupation of a Spa.

In order for the Botanique Spa to fit into its designated floor, an intense internal demolition process was carried out, releasing a free floor plan of approximately 700m². Part of the external masonry was also demolished in order to release the view of the special landscape of the Mantiqueira Mountains.

The Spa is divided in two areas. The first one was designed to receive a small store with bath and massage products developed especially for the Spa, rest areas with a view to the gardens and the mountain landscape, and some therapy rooms. The second area of the Spa, with a more generous ceiling height and with a more intense relationship with the Mantiqueira landscape, welcomed the wet areas: saunas, immersion baths and massage rooms with wet clay preparations.

Some walls of the Spa received an exclusive graphic treatment with Silicogravure as aesthetic reference, a handicraft made with colored sand contained in glass containers. The architectural reinterpretation of this handicraft, typical of some beaches in the northeast of Brazil, activates the imaginary of the Spa users, allowing a conceptual and affective connection between the projected space and the beach resorts of the Brazilian coast. A dose of tropicality in counterpoint to the mountain landscape of Campos do Jordão.
