The bird sanctuary at the tip of the peninsula in the southern part of the Ringkøbing Fjord is, with its unique nature, an important stopping point for migratory birds and home to the oldest continuous count of birds in Europe. Previously, public access to the area has been very limited, but through the establishment of new facilities, the area has now been opened to visitors.

These facilities consist of simple instrument-like additions to the landscape: a bird hide, an observation tower, a workshop, walking paths and a remodeling of the Tipper House research station. The new structures are imagined as independent objects in the landscape, each with distinctive characteristics and subtle mutual relationships with each other and with their surroundings.

The bird observation tower was developed through the synthesis of the geography of the place, the dense humidity of the air, and the techniques of a local factory specialized in the production of masts in solid cylindrical iron rods.
The platform provides an elevated landscape frame, a space that can be closed to provide an isolated position for bird counters or can be opened to view.

The structural system is designed as a mooring frame that expands in width as it increases, allowing a small footprint to gradually expand to support a larger platform at the top. The horizontal elements of the galvanized iron plates have been screwed and welded together, while the vertical and diagonal galvanized cylindrical iron rods extend between the plates.

All individual elements, including handrails, stairs, landings and balustrades, are part of the overall structural system of the tower.
