The intervention in this 145m² complex, located in one of the most important buildings in São Paulo and an icon of modern São Paulo architecture, provided a challenge in how to organize the environments so that the Law Office’s program would fit into the space. Edifico Itália, built in 1953, designed by the architect Franz Heep, has an implantation that generates a rounded shape on each floor, which becomes a challenge when designing. Its façade is entirely made of brise-soleil, which allows those inside the building to control the light entering the spaces, besides bringing very pleasant visuals to those inside the office. The materials chosen played a fundamental role in bringing identity to the place.

The choice of leaving the two circular pillars and the reception’s ceiling in exposed concrete, refers to a desire to highlight the structure of this unique building. The hydraulic tiles used in the pantry and the restrooms mirror a contemporary look without losing the essence of this material. The pantry is placed as a celebrative space for the office team, where they can have moments of decompression during the routine, as well as serving as a support for company meetings. The intention of making it all in the blue color because of the company’s identity, has also the intention of establishing a compositional unity of the space, creating a large monoblock. This monoblock opens and closes completely by means of wood panels, bringing irreverence and personality to the space, besides being suitable for different uses.

Like this environment, the restrooms also follow this compositional unity, bringing more colors to the project’s palette and allowing a relaxation before the whole. In the reception area, the extensive bookcase made of locksmith creates a protagonism in the project, because it defines a demarcation line that allows the separation of the spaces in a light and uncluttered way, storing the client’s book collection. The other environments (board of directors, meetings, and office), which are designed around it, are spaces of constant interaction with natural lighting, and can be seen through the transparency of the partitions. In addition, in the office, a curved wall was created, seen from the entrance and the reception area, reminding the shape of the building itself.
