The project began at a very important stage for the young family, which was about to expand. Due to this moment for the clients, the family home also needed to expand and transform, causing us to rethink the entire original floor plan. The 230m² apartment was composed of many small rooms with corners and corners that were not used to their full potential, so the starting point for the project was to demolish the walls and integrate the rooms to their full potential. Because the living room is on a different level from the kitchen and bedrooms, the rooms are integrated, but visually there is a barrier, determining the function of each room.

The materiality of the project was a point widely discussed and developed throughout the process and the result was a middle ground between light and dark tones and different textures introduced into the environments. In the living room, light tones predominate, where comfort and coziness were paramount, resulting in a light and clean environment. The bookcase is the transitional element between the living room and the kitchen, softening the contrasts between both, since the cabinets in ebony wood and gray stone are the dark focuses of the project.

Still in the line of contrasts, the mix of the original brick with the white painted brick was a way to demarcate the entrance of the house and soften the path with the transition to white. The bevels and corners that previously hindered and were misused, today are contemplation and leisure spaces for the family, such as the bench on the balcony and the bench facing the view, something much desired by clients because for them it reminds them of a cozy cafe, but indoors.
