Chosen to be the first home of a young man of 26, this loft of 134m², located in São Paulo, had the reform conducted by the architect Nildo José. The resident’s desire was that his new house had details that reminded him of his family’s history, who were born in Fortaleza. The client left the city to live in the metropolis of São Paulo, but brought from there some details of his grandparents’ house – where his father grew up – and that would soon be demolished.

Right at the entrance, the hall is like a time tunnel. All covered with pau marfim and sucupira parquet, two woods taken from the family’s centennial home, forming a surprising zigzag pattern. The high-ceilinged kitchen brings more references: the 5.40 m bookcase, which holds glass jars of flour and noodles, was inspired by the family’s old grocery store.

The living room also has a shelf made of peroba-do-campo, also rescued from the grandparents’ house. A metallic detail suspends it from the ceiling, matching the industrial and cosmopolitan look that predominates throughout the project. Next to it, a spiral
a spiral staircase, all white, leads to the second floor – a glass mezzanine dedicated to the home office.

On the balcony, the green climate predominates, with large clay pots with various plants and even a flowering seriguela tree. Another sweet reminder of the northeastern roots.
